“It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Gilles ’Red’ Grossinger.

Major Grossinger, retired to Whitehorse after 30 years of distinguished service in the Canadian Armed Forces. His commitment to serving others continued well beyond his military career. Through his volunteer work with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 254, Red became a dedicated advocate for Yukon veterans, earning both the Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers. Additionally, he generously dedicated his time to our community by organizing Canada Day festivities year after year.

Red was also a passionate outdoorsman and a captivating storyteller. His fascination with sasquatch led him to become a published author, releasing Nahganne: Tales of the Northern Sasquatch in 2022.
