New page

Theo Stein is an editorial writer for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram. Prior to his move to New England, Stein wrote on environmental topics for the Denver Post and served as the Colorado curator for the BFRO for several years. [Update: August 2007. Stein has relocated and is back in the Denver, CO, area.]

In 2003 Stein wrote what many consider to be the most outstanding newspaper article pertaining to the sasquatch phenomenon ever published. The article summarized how a variety of renowned primate experts were convinced of the validity of some sasquatch evidence and were calling for “a hard-eyed look,” as stated by George Schaller, director of science at the Wildlife Conservation Society. Included with the Jan. 5th article was a companion piece detailing a sighting by a prominent Colorado resident.

Stein was the primary instigator of an effort on the part of nine BFRO curators to assess the organization and recommend changes. Seven of the curators, including Stein, felt that substantial reorganization was needed, but the reform initiative was unsuccessful. Stein left the BFRO shortly thereafter.
