Conservationist and author George B. Schaller (b. 1933) is considered by many to be the world's preeminent wildlife biologist. The director of science at the Wildlife Conservation Society, Schaller has spent 40 years studying rare animals in remote places, including pioneering studies of Central Africa’s mountain gorilla, which Western scientists first discovered in 1903.

While Schaller has expressed concern regarding the absence of physical remains, he considers the existence of the sasquatch an open question.

“There have been so many sightings over the years,” he said. “Even if you throw out 95 percent of them, there ought to be some explanation for the rest. The same goes for some of these tracks.”

“I think a hard-eyed look is absolutely essential,” he concludes.
