Matt Crowley first gained fame as a sideshow performer known as “The Tube.” He has also worked as a pharmacist, lamp builder, and welder.

Crowley’s connection with sasquatch research came as a result of his demonstration of spurious surface details on test casts that appeared to replicate possible dermal ridge evidence contained on some purported sasquatch track casts. His ability to produce these “casting artifacts” under certain conditions led some to question the validity of dermal ridges as a line of evidence in support of the existence of the sasquatch, as proposed by advocates Grover Krantz and Jeff Meldrum and supported by the analysis of Jimmy Chilcutt.

In the May/June 2007 issue of Skeptical Inquirer, Crowley, along with other skeptics, critiqued a portion of the book version of Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, written by Jeff Meldrum.
