Fortean Times is a British monthly magazine devoted to the anomalous phenomena popularized by Charles Fort. Previously published by John Brown Publishing (from 1991 to 2001) and then I Feel Good Publishing (2001 to 2005). It is now published by Dennis Publishing Ltd. As of August 2005, its circulation was approximately 27,000 copies per month.
The magazine features articles on any unexplained phenomena, including cryptozoology.
Unconvention
In addition to the magazine, Fortean Times hosts an "UnConvention" at intermittent periods (the most recent being in 2006). In 2003, Loren Coleman presented his talk on Sex and the Single Sasquatch to an appreciative audience.
The 2003 UnConvention is also worthy of note since it was the semi-official launch of Greg Long's book The Making of Bigfoot - at the time, the book was to be called 60 Seconds at Bluff Creek, and the audience was told by Kal Korff that "they" (meaning Long and Korff) had deposed dozens of witnesses, when in fact not one single witness had been deposed. Korff went on to explain that the "man in the suit" (since Bob Heironimus hadn't been named at this stage) walked the way the Patterson-Gimlin film subject walked because he had been in a car accident. It later transpired that Bob Heironimus' car accident took place sometime after the film was taken in 1967.
It is interesting to note that Kal Korff also gave a presentation on the 1963 assassination of John F Kennedy, putting himself up as an expert on the subject, where he made a number of statements that were later rebutted by Dr.Paul Lee.
