Myakka Ape

The Myakka Ape is the name given to a figure, with an appearance similar to an orangutan, that was supposedly photographed by an anonymous resident from Sarasota, Florida and sent to the Sarasota Sheriff's Department on December 22, 2000 along with a letter. Some believe this is Florida's skunk ape, a biped cousin of Bigfoot, while others think it is actually a real orangutan, and yet others are wholly convinced that it is a clever hoax. The images and letter remain much discussed and debated in part because they contain a mixture of seemingly realistic elements along with some inherent problems.
