Andrew Genzoli, a newspaper columnist, historian, and teacher, left a legacy of writings and memorabilia when he died in 1984. The Library was able to acquire this collection of writings and photos with financial assistance from the Bertha Russ Lytel Foundation of Ferndale. In addition to the photos and news clippings, the collection contains early issues of the Humboldt Times newspaper, historic registries, and student papers from classes Genzoli taught 20 years at College of the Redwoods and through adult education.

Genzoli worked most of his life writing for newspapers beginning at age 14 when he covered the town of Ferndale and its high school for the Humboldt Standard newspaper. He spent 30 years on the staff of the Eureka Times-Standard daily newspaper before his retirement in 1979. Considered an authority on Humboldt County history, Genzoli was reported to be the first to publish articles on the Bigfoot legend. He wrote several books on local history and was active in the California Historical Resources Commission and served as president of the Humboldt County Historical Society.
