Update: Craig Woolheater has resumed control of this event and it is now hosted in Jefferson Texas every year in October.

The Texas Bigfoot Conference is an annual colloquium generally held during the third weekend in October in Jefferson, TX. It is sponsored by the Texas Bigfoot Research Conservancy. As stated on the organization's web site, "The Texas Bigfoot Conference represents the TBRC’s primary educational outreach endeavor. It is open to the public and usually involves bringing in scholarly speakers who are considered among the most knowledgeable in the field, such as TBRC Advisors Dr. Jeff Meldrum and Dr. John Bindernagel." The inaugural event, held in 2001, was headlined by John Bindernagel, and it quickly became established as the preeminent conference of its kind.

The conference was not held during October in 2006, being substituted for a spring/summer event. In 2005 TBRC representatives began collaborating with the University of Texas to produce the Bigfoot in Texas? exhibit and lecture series at the prestigious Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) in San Antonio. The critically acclaimed exhibit opened to the public on April 7, 2006. Following the conclusion of the exhibit in late summer, the ITC donated the display panels to the TBRC. Plans are underway, in conjunction with the city of Jefferson, Texas, to permanently house these exceptional resources in a public museum focused exclusively on the Bigfoot/sasquatch phenomenon. In the meantime, some of the exhibit panels were displayed for public viewing during the October conference in 2007 and 2008.

In 2009 the TBRC announced a venue change for the ninth annual conference to larger facilities in Tyler, TX, located in the eastern part of the state.[1] The conference will take place on Saturday, 26 September 2009, and will be held in conjunction with the East Texas State Fair. Planning for the conference is being coordinated through the Tyler Convention and Visitors Bureau.
