Jim Powell was a reporter for the Texarkana Gazette and Daily News in 1971 when Dave Hall, the News Director for Texarkana radio station KTFS, contacted him and told him something strange was happening in Fouke, Arkansas.

The Bobby Ford family claimed after they moved into their new house in Fouke and went hunting, they heard a scream coming from their house. Upon returning they saw a bipedal creature that stood seven feet tall.

Powell became the lead investigator and dubbed the creature the "Fouke Monster." The story was subsequently made into a movie, "The Legend of Boggy Creek," that has become a cult favorite.
