Michael Meraz

From Loren Coleman

amie Wayne of the Bluff Creek Project passes along sad news of the death of Michael Meraz: “Just lost a good friend of mine to COVID19. Get vaccinated please. He was stubborn and refused. He had no other issues. He leaves behind his daughter Sydney Meraz.”

Meraz was friends with Rene Dahinden, as well as many Bigfooters in the Willow Creek, California area.

Michael Meraz was an active Bigfooter working with the Bluff Creek Project.

Michael Meraz passed quietly in his sleep due to coronavirus-related complications on July 31st, 2021, in Sacramento, California.

Michael was born on December 30, 1957, in Sacramento, CA, to Manuel Meraz and Millie Martinez Meraz. He had a very long career in criminal justice — he was a law enforcement officer with the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department for 3 years and the Sacramento Police Department for 16 years, and served as a clerk and court attendant with the Sacramento Superior Court for the last 16 years up until his passing.

Michael loved animals, traveling, and the outdoors. He made frequent trips to the Willow Creek area of California to off-road and camp among nature. He closely followed international football leagues and travelled to many fantastic locations abroad to attend live games, with Mexico and Italy as his favorite destinations.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Manuel, his mother, Millie, his brother, Richard, his dog, Anyuk, and his cat, Calvin.

Michael is survived by his siblings Manuel, Danny, and Margie, his only child, Lilith (née Sydney) and his grandcat, Bubby.

Due to COVID-19 regulations, services were held privately among family and friends on September 11, 2021. Michael’s ashes were mixed with his dog Anyuk’s and scattered (in a favored location).
