(Historic) Dan "SquatchCommando” Buchanan

From Squatchopedia 2.0

Heroes pass away in many ways. Sad news to pass along.

Known within the Bigfoot community as “SquatchCommando,” Dan Buchanan started showing up big, via online forums in 2007, arguing for a pro-Bigfoot position.

SquatchCommando was a Marine Corps veteran who encountered a Bigfoot while on a training mission at Quantico, Virginia. He had appeared recently on a internet radio show (“Let’s Talk Bigfoot”) discussing his experience, and it was apparent his Sasquatch searching and related activities were on the increase.

Buchanan was interested in hunting Bigfoot, but he advocated tranquilizing them and taking biological samples. He firmly told people he was not for killing or capturing them, but merely doing what needed to be done to prove they exist to others.

SquatchCommando wanted to do it his way.

Buchanan, only 41, was out apparently enjoying some music near Noblesville, Indiana, when he was hit and killed on August 14, 2007.

An Illinois man died Tuesday night [August 14, 2007] while walking outside the Verizon Wireless Music Center after the Ozzfest concert.

Danne D. Buchanan, 41, of Fisher, Ill., was walking south on Boden Road just north of 156th Street about 11:30 p.m. when he was struck by a 1993 Ford F-150 truck driven by Jerry R. Cook, 50, of Oakland City, Ind.

Hamilton County Sheriff Maj. Mark Bowen said in a press release that Cook was driving south on Boden Road on his way to the amphitheater to pick up a family member at the free concert, which 18,467 people attended.

Cook stated that he did not see either Buchanan or David Wall, also of Fisher, because the men who were walking together wore dark clothing. Cook also told officers that he was blinded by the headlights from the full lane of northbound traffic on Boden Road.

Cook’s truck struck Buchanan causing severe head and internal injuries, Bowen said. Buchanan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bowen said neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected as being a contributing factor to the accident, however, the Crash Investigation Team continues to investigate the incident. “Truck kills Illinois man leaving Ozzfest ,” by Katie Merle of the Noblesville Ledger, via the Indianapolis Star, August 15, 2007.

Cryptomundo’s deepest condolences to Dan Buchanan’s friends and family.

Thanks to Matt Knapp for sharing the intial news with his fellow hominologists.
