snow walker video

A short video clip released in 1996 by Paramount's UPN show, Paranormal Borderland, and became known as the Snow Walker video which was initially reported to be a video of a yeti in the Himalayas.

Experts Fooled

The film initially fooled three of the most prominent bigfoot researchers.

Dr. Jeff Meldrum proclaimed "I am quite confident in my estimate of scale, which was derived from the witnesses' snowshoe trackway. Using that trackway as a scale, the subject had to be in excess of 9 feet tall. When you are confident of the size in excess of 9 feet, you have to ask, 'where did they find an actor to fill that costume?'"

Dmitri Bayanov said "The footage is very impressive, very, very impressive because the creature that it shows has all the characteristic features of a relic hominoid- such as the cone shaped head, hairy body, very massive limbs and trunk and torso."

Igor Bourstev said [translated from Russian] "It's not possible, it's not a man."

The footage was later purchased by Fox, and used in the show World's Greatest Hoaxes: Secrets Finally Revealed.

Hoax Revealed

Meldrum became increasingly suspicious of the behavior of the show's producers as he tried to investigate the matter further. He pursued the matter with UPN for over a year. Eventually, after Paranormal Borderline was cancelled, the producers finally outright admitted the hoax, and explained how it was done.

Confusion Remains

Despite being revealed as a hoax, many websites and researchers have not referred to the hoax in their discussion of the video
