Skookum area

Skookum Meadow is a protected area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in southern Washington state near Mount Saint Helens and Mount Adams. As part of the Lone Butte Wildlife Emphasis Area, roads in this area are closed and hunting is prohibited. The Meadow area supports abundant wildlife including elk, deer, beaver, common snipe, warblers, turtles, and wild orchids.

Investigatory History

The BFRO organized an expedition to the Skookum Meadow area in September of 2000. Expedition team members included Greg Bambenek, LeRoy Fish, and Rick Noll. The purpose of the expedition was to collect physical evidence of sasquatch through the use of pheromone chips, call blasting, and a thermal imaging device. In addition, a film crew from the television show Animal X was present to shoot video for their program. Over the course of this expedition, the Skookum Cast was collected.
