(Group) Sasquatch Investigations of Mid-America
Please note: This group is not associated with the Mid-America Bigfoot Research Center
An early bigfoot investigation group, Sasquatch Investigations Of Mid-America was founded in 1976 and based out of Edmond, Oklahoma. The group actively investigated sightings in central North America throughout the 70's and 80's. The group reportedly collected and around 1000 reports, and actively investigated major sightings and had several research sites. SIA would evaluate evidence collected by its investigators and would release the information to the general public though lectures, publications, radio, and television media. The group also published a newsletter called “Bigfoot News”; in which the members would release information on sightings and investigations. The group actively reported many of the major bigfoot encounters in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri during the time they were active, and much of the documentation of bigfoot activity in the region at the time is due to their work. Some of the cases that they investigated include the “El Reno Chicken Man” incident, the “Noxie Monster”, and the Missouri “Momo”, as well as Oklahoma sightings around Stilwell, Vice, Canton, Oakwood, Cheyenne, and Lindsay. Group members included Hayden Hewes, Bob Stamps, Dr. Lawrence Curtis, and Bob Storms.
