David Daegling

David Daegling, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Florida in Gainesville. His stated research interests include skeletal biomechanics, primate mastication, dental microwear, morphometrics, science education and skeptical inquiry. He studies the evolution and biomechanics of the primate skeleton, using experimental stress analysis and “morphometric approaches to studying anatomical variation in living and extinct primates.”[1]

Daegling, an outspoken skeptic regarding the possibility of a biological basis to the sasquatch phenomenon, is the author of “Bigfoot Exposed: An Anthropologist Examines America’s Enduring Legend” (2004).[2] In “Bigfoot Exposed” Daegling systematically debunks the major arguments in support of the existence of a large undocumented primate species in North America, concluding that the phenomenon is a product of the imagination.

A generally favorable review of Daegling’s book was written by renowned bigfoot researcher Rick Noll.[3] A critical review was prepared by long-time researcher and author Thomas Steenburg. [4]
