Sightings

Sightings are defined as when a person(s) visually sees a bigfoot. The length of a sighting can range from a few seconds to as long as an hour. Distance between the witness and bigfoot can range from mere feet to as much as a 300 yards. It should be noted that the shorter the time and the greater the distance results in a less reliable sighting.

Sightings usually allow the witness to describe basic physical attributes of the bigfoot, including hair color, height, weight, and movement. Longer and closer sightings often results in more detailed information about facial features, smells, and gender.

Sightings are considered to be extremely rare events, often occurring at random within suspected bigfoot habitat. Long-term repeated sightings or interaction with a bigfoot is referred to as habituation.
